“Solving Shorebird ID Pitfalls”

Friday, April 21 at 3:30 pm

Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 pm

Mel Cooksey is a life-long birder with a special interest in status and distribution, migration trends, and subtle identification techniques.  His special interests are shorebirds, sparrows and flycatchers.

This talk is a general overview of the expected shorebird species in the Coastal Bend in spring, with discussion on the finer points of identification.   How we apply size, shape, and behavior and plumage in spring in sorting out confusing groups such as peeps and dowitchers.

You must first purchase a $35 registration for Birdiest Festival in America to purchase a ticket to this event.  Click here for Festival Registration. After completing that transaction, you can log in using your email address to purchase field trips and for reserved seminar seating.

Our talks are offered to all paid festival registrants at no charge, but seating will be reserved.  They are scheduled twice on different days and times to provide more opportunities for everyone to participate in their choice of talks.  Please DO NOT select a talk that conflicts with your choice of field trips.  Most participants should be able to attend 3 to 4 talks.
